This month there are two charities who have asked me to donate ‘a prize or promise’ for their auctions. The first is a charity called XLP who work with teenagers in Central London. Subsequently XLP set up a school in Ghana over 10 years ago. The money raised at the auction will be pumped straight into the school and to help fund gap year students to go out there to teach and inspire. For more details follow the link – Ghana Auction of Promises. I love what they do as they help to nurture artistic talent and passion within young people who may otherwise fall into a life on the streets. The success of this charity is unprecedented with the police and political leaders following their lead in the battle against gang culture.
The second charity is Shelter who work tirelessly with the homeless and increasingly with people at risk of losing their homes. My friend Sarah is running the Virgin London Marathon in April 2013 to raise money for them and therefore is hosting a quiz night. It should be fun with lots of local businesses donating some great vouchers and prizes! Follow the link to get more information or to donate to this worthy cause – Sarah Attoe’s just giving page. After watching the Dispatches programme about the housing crisis in England, I was utterly shocked and disturbed at the rate in which people are losing their homes and literally ending up living on the streets. The work Shelter do is vitally important, perhaps more than ever given the current economic circumstances.
Donate some cash or attend either of these events and bid for a free one-to-one exercise session from me! The more money you bid the more lives you will help change! There also looks like to be some great prizes apart from my offering, but of course I know you will bid very highly for me 🙂
