“Becky has worked as a personal and company trainer for myself and Levantes Dance Theatre for the last 5 years. Along with her professional expertise, Becky’s friendly persona, great listening skills and willingness to help whenever possible, means she is truly valuable to us.
Her extensive knowledge of Dance Science has been vital in preparing the company for touring and performing. As artists who find work both physically and mentally tiring, Becky has worked in many ways to prevent exhaustion before it kicks in. Without the luxury of size some more established companies have, the responsibility of running, performing, choreographing and developing for Levantes falls on the two core Co-Artistic Directors; myself and Eleni Edipidi. With this in mind, Becky’s help in managing areas of our training, and ensuring
we prioritise our health, fitness and well being, have provided us with the opportunity to focus on more artistic areas. Along with freeing up time for us through organising these elements, her work with us has also contributed to our knowledge. As performance rather than science graduates of dance, Becky has past on much information that was not prominent in our training and has done so with the patience necessary for explaining the benefits of dance science to artistic brains filled with pressures of imminent performances!Becky is wonderful person to work with and I feel lucky to have her support as a friend and for Levantes. “Well, if it wasn’t for Becky my body would still be out of alignment and I would probably be a size bigger in clothes!
I had never been to a gym before starting at the Personal Training Studios W10 in Notting Hill London; I was scared of gyms!I thought I was relatively fit as I played tennis each week, skied, swam and walked. However, I felt overweight and was forever pulling muscles in my shoulder with tennis, had high cholesterol, high blood pressure and was recommended by medics to try the gym.
Not being very strong willed when it comes to doing specific exercises prescribed by the medics, I knew I needed the supervision and inspiration of a trainer.
