Easing back pain and tension

Back pain and other aches throughout the body can inhibit your everyday life whether you are a dancer, athlete or neither! It decreases your range of movement and your body compensates for this by putting additional strain on other parts of your body. To have regular deep tissue or sports massage can be expensive or hard to fit into a busy lifestyle. This is why so many of us struggle along and can ultimately lead to surgery or joint replacements in later life.

Body aches and pains can be a result of the DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) through rigorous exercise, from tension which has built up slowly, or remnants from an injury. Easing this muscle soreness is now big business for pharmaceutical companies who rely on paracetamol and other pain killing drugs to mask the pain. Whilst they can be effective, they do not treat the cause of the pain inside the muscle fibres. The pain then typically returns once the effects of drugs have lapsed. This can be the start of a vicious circle and no surprise why so many people use pain killers daily to manage back and general body pains.

Ramona Braganza’s 321 training method

Last Sunday I was invited to attend the 321 training method which was created by Ramona Braganza, Personal Trainer to the stars! Ramona is based in Los Angeles and has over 20 years experience training A-lister celebrities such as Scarlett Johanson, Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway.

The day was great and was truly inspiring to meet such a successful female personal trainer. The 321 training method is a great structure to follow during group exercise and one-to-one personal training sessions. I tested it out over the Easter weekend with one of my clients and she really enjoyed it! It was a really fast paced session and therefore even through the strength circuits and core section, the pace did not slow down for a minute!

I am now officially a Ramona Braganza 321 trainer, so if you would like to find out any more please contact me right away.

Graze – nutritious snack box you must try them!

You may have seen a new TV advertisement for Graze boxes. If you have not ordered your free 1st box, do it now! They are incredibly tasty and extremely good for you. I have a couple of boxes posted to me every week and look forward to every one!

You choose when you want a box and then Graze post you four punnets of naturally healthy snacks. These snacks range from vanilla coated seeds, roasted nuts, home made flapjacks, crackers and dips, and my favourite – dried fruits and chocolate. In each box you get a small leaflet explaining the nutritional value of each punnet. Sometimes you also receive educational leaflets on healthy eating and food, however whatever they send you is interesting and informative.

UNDANCE World Premiere

Last Thursday night at Sadlers Wells I went to the world premiere of UNDANCE, a collaboration of Mark-Anthony Turnage, Wayne McGregor and Mark Wallinger.

Absolutely brilliant!! The visuals, music and performance by both Sarah Connolly and Random Dance were exquisite. Even my husband was astounded by the intriguing pieces. Visually both performances were breathtaking and of course the extremely talented dancers from Random Dance performed with power and grace in the way that only they can.

I would absolutely recommend seeing this if you can, it will be one you remember for a long time! Seeing the physical prowess of the dancers from Random Dance may may also motivate you in your exercise sessions!!!
