About me
Sparked by her dance training, Rebecca began her fitness and health career over 10 years ago where she trained as a personal trainer and freelance class instructor. Whilst completing her BA in Dance and Sport at Manchester Metropolitan University, she began to combine these two passions (dance and fitness) in her research and work.
After graduating Rebecca continued to work in the fitness industry and progressed into managerial positions whilst completing an MSc in Dance Science at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Her research was mainly based on the physiological aspects of dance such as strength conditioning, energy expenditure and the monitoring of physical responses to dance.
Over the last few years her interest has expanded to the somatic fields of dance research and complimentary techniques such as Pilates Reformer, fascial release, Franklin Method and Yoga. Rebecca has presented work in different arenas such as International Association of Dance Medicine and Science has written various reviews and articles for dance and fitness magazines / websites such as Fitness Professionals and Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.
Alongside her work in the health and fitness side of dance, Rebecca is an experienced arts manager. Rebecca has been managing performing arts projects for many years covering a wide variety of events and workshops. Most recently Rebecca was the Project Manager for Room Temperature Romance (Levantes Dance Theatre) and Esther Alexander‘s ‘The Long Way Home’ official album launch. Currently Rebecca is the Quality Assurance Manager for the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and has been since 2008.
